About Us
Potomac Fiber Arts Guild is one of the largest and most active fiber guilds in the Mid-Atlantic region. Started in 1944 by 12 people in the Washington, DC area who liked to do handwork, especially weaving, organized to form a group that eventually took the name of Potomac Craftsmen. The name of the Guild was changed in 2009 to Potomac Fiber Arts Guild.
By the end of the second year, the following objectives had been accepted by the members:
Since then the group, which has increased to many times the number of charter members, has made progress in every one of its objectives. In addition, it has expanded in the field of fiber arts so that it now includes lace makers, spinners, knotters, knitters, crocheters, felters, dyers quilters and other fiber artists.
Today´s Potomac Fiber Arts Guild is made up of friendly and inquisitive fiber enthusiasts. Members have a range of experience from complete novices to recognized professionals.
